I've never considered myself lucky when it comes to contests. I was always the one who never won things no matter how many times I entered. But that all changed this year! My most recent win were these amazing Moto Combo James Jeans from a blog giveaway that Alex of To Vogue or Bust hosted. Let me just say that I was beyond ecstatic and when they arrived, it was like Christmas morning. The moto-style stitching and patches make these the most unique pair of jeans I own, and they really up the style ante of any outfit that I put together with them. Be prepared to see a lot more of these jeans on the blog :)

Cake for Breakfast

{ Leather Jacket: H&M The New Icons Collection (old, similar here) // Ampersand Tee: Cake for Breakfast (tip: size up) // Shorts: Persun (c/o) // Booties & Bag: Zara // Sunglasses: Prada // Jewelry: DIY necklace (similar); ASOS rings }
If I were to actually change out of my pajamas to eat breakfast, I think this is something along the lines of what I would wear in the morning. This soft Cake for Breakfast t-shirt paired with these loose, drawstring shorts from Persun creates a pulled together look that has the comfort of sleepwear. I accessorized with a pearl necklace and delicate gold rings to make myself feel fancier since I am eating cake for breakfast, after all.

Winter Layers

{ Trench: c/o eShakti // Faux Fur Vest: H&M Kids // Top: H&M (old) // Faux Leather Shorts: Forever 21 // Tights: Joe Fresh // Shoes & Scarf: Zara // Knit Beret: DIY // Bag: Louis Vuitton // Sunglasses: Karen Walker // Bracelets: Forever 21 & H&M }

This outfit is actually reminiscent of my very first outfit post. The scarf, top and shorts are the same, but this year I've added more layers that include wearing two pairs of tights, my hand knit beret and a faux fur vest under my custom trench coat from eShakti. I adore that the coat was custom made to my measurements and the festive red colour is perfect for Christmas, which is exactly one week away! Are you all ready?!

PS: the winner of my olive + piper giveaway will be announced on Friday!

Leo

{ Blouse: Joe Fresh (with DIY shoulder cut-outs) // Shorts: H&M Kids (similar here and here) // Sandals: Zara // Bag: Chloe // Sunglasses: Karen Walker "Number One" // Necklace: vintage }

I admit that I occasionally shop in the kids department (as seen here) because of the lower price point. If the style isn't too junior and it fits, I'm all over it! I mean, how cute are these leopard-print shorts?! And they were only $12.95. You can't go wrong with a little leo, and for me that goes for fashion and in life because my hubby is a Leo and today is his birthday! Happy happy birthday to the love of my life! xox

DIY: Cut-Out Shoulders Blouse

INSPIRATION: Equipment Nixie Cold Shoulder Silk Blouse | WHAT I'M USING: Joe Fresh Silk Blouse

I bought this black silk Joe Fresh blouse when it was on clearance in the Winter for $19.99 but haven't worn it yet. I felt like it was missing something so I took my inspiration from this Equipment blouse, which I adore, and decided to replicate the look. It's a pretty simple DIY and doesn't require a sewing machine (though you can certainly use one if you choose to). Learn how to make your own cut-out shoulders blouse in just 4 easy steps!

Step 1: Using a fabric pencil, draw out the shape of your shoulder cut-out on one side of the blouse. Depending on much skin you want to show, it can be round, oval, short or long. I chose to draw a long oval to create a deeper cut-out.

Step 2: Cut out the shape you just drew on the shoulder area. It's a little scary but you can do it! Remember to use really sharp scissors that are only meant for cutting fabric.

Step 3: After you've finished cutting the first shoulder out, fold the blouse evenly in half with the front side facing each other. I pinned the shoulders of the blouse together and cut the second side by following the outline of the first shoulder cut-out. You can also trace the oval shape again with your fabric pencil if you prefer to cut along a line.

Step 4: Try on the shirt to make sure you're happy with the shape and size of your cut-outs. Adjust as needed. Fold down the raw cut edge and machine sew or hand-stitch the hem. I chose to hand-sew a slip stitch so that the stitches would be more invisible.

Step 5: Wear with pride!
