Colour Crush: Powder Blue

powder blue, spring, 3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli Satchel, Forever 21 Must-Have blazer, Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air nail polish, Ruche Parkway D'orsay flats, Ray-Ban aviators, Target Xhilaration lace bralet

I have been drawn to all things powder blue while on my shopping escapades as of late. It's light, fresh, and reminds me of Spring skies. Since I've always been a pink and purple kind of gal, I actually don't own any powder blue pieces, which gives me the perfect excuse to do some shopping. Here are some sweet baby blues that have caught my eye (namely, the powder blue mini satchel).

During the fall and winter months, I wear a lot of tights to get longevity out of my summer shorts, dresses and skirts. I'm usually a basic black tights kind of gal but these printed tights from Zohara have changed my tune. The unique flower drawing on the tights adds an artistic touch, making them fashionable pieces of art you can wear. They're also 120 den, which means they're thick enough to keep my legs warm when the air is brisk, something I'll definitely be needing with this weekend's forecast of rain and more rain. Happy Friday everyone! Cheers to the weekend!

These Boots Are Made for Walking

Autumn is the season for boots and you can never have too many. Ankle booties, knee highs, thigh highs - the styles are seemingly endless and there's a boot for every outfit. Click on the images to shop your favourite pair! I'm a fan of the mirrored heels (under $40!), leopard wedges and the gorgeous Isabel Marants.

The 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collection was a designer collaboration I was completely drawn to (next on my radar: Isabel Marant pour H&M), enough so that I woke up the morning of September 15 while on my vacation in LA and drove to the nearest Target - or so I thought. Unfortunately my GPS sent me completely off track, and the Target I ended up at was 20 minutes further than I had anticipated and they didn't even carry the collection. By the time I ended up at the correct Target, the bags were sold out (insert sad face emoji here). I did pick up both the skirt and this sweater in the leopard print, along with a sweater dress (more sweater styling inspiration from IFB here). But I'm now forever thinking of the bags that got away. Anyone have a spare mini Pashli-inspired satchel?! The real deal Pashli is also welcome.

Fashionably Fixated on...

One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine | Ten | Eleven

My current shoe obsession is with d'Orsay flats. They're a simple twist on the basic flat with a truly elegant feel (I can imagine Audrey Hepburn donning them with cigarette trousers). Luckily there's a pair for everyone with prices ranging from high (Jenni Kayne) to low (Forever 21). My personal fave is Ruche's classic black and white striped d'Orsay flats, which I may or may not have just purchased ;) Is this a shoe style you'll be trying?

Pick of the Crop

Crop tops have made a comeback and they have a much more sophisticated look than the Britney Spears midriff baring days. The key to wearing them now is to pair them with a high-waisted bottom so that you're only showing a small sliver of skin; think high-waisted pencil skirt, denim cut-offs, cigarette pants or flared trousers. Here are my picks of the crop tops. Is this a trend you'll be trying?

Left to right from the top:
Missguided Polka Dot High Neck Crop Top $11.07
Lush Zip Stripe Crop Top $34.00
Forever 21 Floral Print Crop Top $9.80
American Apparel Baby Rip Crop Top $35.64
Topshop Crochet Crop Top $44.00
ASOS Geo Aztec Print Polo Crop Top $10.18
Boohoo Zara Slash Neck Crop Top $7.92
ASOS Cropped Tank Top with High Neck $10.18

Return of the Skort

{ Denim Jacket: H&M (worn here & here) // Blouse: J. Crew // Skort: Zara // Shoes: BCBGirls (old) // Wallet: Vince Camuto (similar, won from O My Heart!) // Sunglasses: Prada // Jewelry: Forever 21 earrings; DIY bracelet; BCBG Max Azria ring }
I haven't worn a skort (shorts + skirt) since middle school and honestly thought I'd never wear them again. I also felt the same way about leggings but now I can't imagine life without them. So here I am wearing a skort again, which I am completely in love with. Other things making me happy? The fact that my shirt serendipitously matches the magnolia tree in these photos and that today is my birthday! I have the day off and will be spending it with my husband. Not sure what he has planned but I'll find out soon!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Stopping in for a quick hello to share this minty shade of green I'm wearing to get in the spirit for today's holiday (which may also include imbibing in a green beverage of some sort as I head off to brunch). Enjoy your Sunday!

Into the Blue

{ Dress: eShakti (c/o) // Boots: BCBGirls (old) // Bag: Chanel // Sunglasses: Prada // Bracelets: Forever 21 }
This past weekend was spent enjoying the glorious sunshine and clear blue skies. I donned this pretty new frock for Sunday brunch, and although it wasn't nearly warm enough for me to go without a jacket, I wanted to show off this dress from eShakti for the blog. If you remember this post, eShakti specializes in custom styles and sizes. I chose to customize this dress to an above-the-knee length and kept the pockets, which is a detail I love in a dress.

eShakti has kindly offered all of my readers 20% off with the special promo code STYLERHPSD, which is good until March 20, 2013. If you haven't tried customized clothing before, now's a great time to start!

Spring Fever

Today I'm sharing a few things I'm currently craving for Spring. Lots of light and bright colours, leopard print and a cute umbrella, because let's face it: I live in Vancouver and it rains A LOT here! Click on the images to get more info. Happy Thursday!

Layered Shirtdress

{ Coat: T. Babaton // Dress: Talula "Fleetwood" // Chambray Shirt: H&M // Shoes: Christian Louboutin // Bag: Louis Vuitton // Sunglasses: Prada // Jewelry: Costa Blanca necklace; Forever 21 pearl bracelets; wrap bracelet from NYC street vendor }
{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

My love for this lace dress has been well documented on this blog (seen here, here and here) and I take any opportunity I can to wear it all year round. In addition to a camisole and two pairs of tights, I layered my heart-print chambray shirt underneath the dress to make it more suitable for the cold. I threw on my wool and cashmere blend coat on top (buttoned all the way up after outfit photos were taken, of course!) and I was good to go.

Winter Layers

{ Trench: c/o eShakti // Faux Fur Vest: H&M Kids // Top: H&M (old) // Faux Leather Shorts: Forever 21 // Tights: Joe Fresh // Shoes & Scarf: Zara // Knit Beret: DIY // Bag: Louis Vuitton // Sunglasses: Karen Walker // Bracelets: Forever 21 & H&M }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

This outfit is actually reminiscent of my very first outfit post. The scarf, top and shorts are the same, but this year I've added more layers that include wearing two pairs of tights, my hand knit beret and a faux fur vest under my custom trench coat from eShakti. I adore that the coat was custom made to my measurements and the festive red colour is perfect for Christmas, which is exactly one week away! Are you all ready?!

PS: the winner of my olive + piper giveaway will be announced on Friday!

Hi, there! I'm Kate, the force behind style blog, The Fancy Pants Report. I love mixing prints and adding pops of color to my daily wardrobe. The weather here in San Francisco has been gloomy so I wanted to style an outfit that was pop-y (pun intended).

Guest Post: Miriam of Simply x Classic

Hello Friends of Style Rhapsody!!!

My name is Miriam and I am honored to be guest blogging for Marisa while she is away. SimplyxClassic.com is my home blog and where you can read about my superficial loves for fashion and beauty...I do hope you'll stop by and say hello!

The weather has definitely cooled down in Orange County, CA, which meant it was time to swap out all of my spring/summer wardrobe for my fall/winter. It's a tedious task that must be done for a girl living in a small apartment with a tiny closet full of clothes...if you feel me, holla! This is why I love silhouettes that can be worn during all 4 seasons at any occasion; pieces like the "little black dress" or in my case, the "little black skirt". Simply, classic! =)
{ Sweater: F21 // Skirt: H&M // Heels: Zara // Sunnies: Ray-Ban // Bag: Prada // Necklace: J.Crew }

So what I want to know from the Style Rhapsody community is, What is Your Classic Piece?

One thing I absolutely love about blogging is meeting new people and being inspired by their wardrobe. Who knew that this rectangle box sitting in front of me could connect me to a gigantic world of style? Let me know your answers in the comments below and let's connect! =)

Love,
Miriam
