Hello? Is anyone still there? If you're still following along, thank you. It's been a while since my last post (though I've been active on Instagram) and my absence here was very intentional. I haven't felt motivated or inspired, and since this space is something I do truly enjoy, I thought a blogging break was needed in order to get back to producing content I want to post when I want. I even stopped reading other style blogs altogether because they were starting to melt into the same blog for me; every fashion blogger is wearing the same Valentino heels, carrying the same Celine bag, or even styling their homes in the same colour palette. 

Needless to say, it was getting tiresome and with the lack of inspiration, styling, shooting and writing a post took a lot more effort and I didn't have the energy for it anymore. Now I'm back because I want to be. I'm committing to staying true to my own personal style and posting what I genuinely love. I hope you enjoy it and thanks, as always, for reading.

I've been on a self-imposed shopping "diet" since summer started. I'm making an effort to be more creative with wearing what is already in my closet (this outfit is proof), and keeping myself occupied with other things (like cooking) so that I'm not shopping. It's not to say that I don't buy anything. But the things I do buy are items I believe will stand the test of time and allow me to wear for years to come.

Since it's #throwbackthursday, here are some photos taken in early April when it was pouring rain and the brown leaves were still hanging onto the trees. This is in stark contrast to today's weather, which completely feels like summer! Regardless of sun or rain, my go-to colour palette lately (or lack thereof) works no matter the season. Mint Moment

Mint has been having its moment in the fashion world for a few seasons now and I'm still enamoured with it. All of these mint pieces were purchased from Zara almost two years ago and are still in heavy rotation every spring, especially at Easter. Our house is currently full of my daughter's chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs, I think I'm going to have to snag a few for myself to snack on ;)

April Showers

It's not very obvious in these photos but it was POURING rain when we were taking these shots outside of the Vancouver Art Gallery. Needless to say, it was a very quick shoot and totally worth getting rained on to capture the canopy of pink cherry blossoms as a backdrop. Oh, and I've officially ditched the tights. Bare legs until mid-October!

It's no secret that I love a great moto jacket (evidence one, two, three, four and five). This one from HRH Collection was a must-have with its dark navy colour and faux leather panel, not to mention that the quality is fantastic too. Since I've been drawn to achromatic outfits lately, I styled the moto jacket with a black and white palette, save for a pop of raspberry in my shoes.

Don't mind my damp hair and clothes in these photos; the wet snow was coming down fast and furious but Eleanor and I decided to test out her new lens and snap some outfit photos after shopping the Aritzia Warehouse Sale. The weather was also the perfect opportunity to wear this blush pink hooded coat from Zara's Spring '14 collection. In addition to powder blue, blush pink is another colour I'm smitten with for Spring (if it ever arrives). You can melt away now snow, please and thank you!

The neutral tone of these Zohara tights are such a beautiful hybrid of grey and beige, otherwise known as greige. The colour is soft while being warm and cool at the same time (see how the tights pick up the grey in my bag and the beige of my pumps?) I just love it; greige is the new neutral for me.

Snow Day

The snow left almost as quickly as it came, because as I write this post the rain has completely washed away all the snow. During its short-lived stay, I discovered a new obsession that's not only practical for keeping warm but is also super cute: enter boot socks. They come in an array of colours and patterns, and are such a fun way to add an extra layer of interest to an outfit. I've already bought two pairs (this pair I'm wearing here and an over-the-knee pair) and see many more in my future. If you haven't worn them before, give them a try! They'd also make great stocking stuffers :)

Layered Up

Although I'm a die-hard summer girl, I do enjoy dressing for fall because of the opportunities to layer. I last wore this dress in the heat of summer (here) and was able to make it appropriate for autumn temperatures just by adding a turtleneck and faux fur vest. Classic accessories like diamond stud earrings and oxblood nail polish brings more texture to the look, while holding a cup of hot tea keeps the chill away. Which brings me to this Alice+Olivia for Starbucks mug. Can we talk about how adorable it is? Stripes, gold and a tutu - très chic.
