Double Denim

{ Coat: Ecote via Urban Oufitters // Chambray: H&M // Jeans: Old Navy // Booties: Zara // Scarf: American Apparel // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Sunglasses: Dior // iPhone Case: HRH Collection (c/o) // Jewelry: bracelet from Mexico; BCBG ring }

I honestly never thought I'd wear denim on denim (or the Canadian tuxedo, as it's also known), because the look never appealed to me. But fashion can be surprising and over time it can change your outlook on certain styles. I inadvertently threw together my heart-print chambray (last seen here) with my dark denim skinny jeans and voila, a double denim outfit that was cute and effortless for a day of running errands.

Are there any styles you never thought you'd wear and are now loving?

Gingham & Polka Dots

{ Gingham Shirt: H&M // Polka Dot Sweater: J.Crew (on sale!) // Jeans: Old Navy // Booties: Zara (old) // Bag: Chanel // Sunglasses: Dior // Jewelry: olive + piper Mira necklace; Spike the Punch Rainey necklace; Brandy Melville ring }

After the two day snow storm Vancouver had this week, followed by a day of heavy rain, I couldn't bring myself to shoot outfit photos outside. I must say it was warm and cozy shooting indoors, and it gave me the opportunity to better showcase this J.Crew polka dot Tippi sweater I recently got on sale. I can't help but buy a little something for myself while out Christmas shopping, anyone else guilty of this?

And now to announce the winner of the olive + piper Mira Spike necklace that I'm wearing here. Congrats to Bella M.! I'll be sending you an e-mail shortly. Thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway and have a merry, festive weekend!

Clearly I'm not willing to let go of wearing sleeveless pieces of clothing even when it's pouring buckets outside. I promise to wear more cozy, Fall looks on the blog soon but for now, I'm going to hold off on the layers just a little longer. Or move to Southern California. Who's with me?

Enjoy the weekend everyone! I'm attending a macaron making class tonight and I'm SUPER excited about it!

Summer Layers

With the sudden drop in temperature, it became too cool for me to wear my maxi dress on its own. Putting a denim shirt over the dress and tying a cute knot in the front was the perfect layering solution.

Isn't this train car cool? I went inside it for the first time and it was a little eerie. Eleanor and I could only stand to photograph one interior shot before getting the urge to go back outside. As romantic as the notion of train travel is to me, the charm got a little lost in this railcar museum. I think I'll stick to air travel! Have a great weekend everyone!

Neon Splash

{ Blazer & Jeggings: H&M // Sweater: Zara // Scarf: Matthew Williamson for H&M // Shoes: BCBGirls // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Sunglasses: Dior // Watch: Gucci // Jewelry: HRH Collection bracelet; random silver ring, BCBG rhinestone ring }

I absolutely loved neon in the '80s, and I mean LOVED. There are old photos of me showing how I completely embraced the neon trend, from my neon green leggings, neon pink slouch socks, multi-neon-coloured top, and neon orange scrunchie...all in one outfit. These days I'm taking a more restrained approach to the neon trend. I toned down this neon pink sweater from Zara (that I got on sale for $16. Score!) with neutral grey jeans and a black blazer. Adding the bright scarf provided the perfect punch of extra colour I was looking for.

Electric

I haven't worn a pair of coloured jeans since I was in the seventh grade, when Guess was THE brand of jeans to wear at my elementary school. Now I wish I could go back into the closet of my 13-year-old self to pull out the mustard and purple jeans. Instead, I picked up this pair of cobalt blue jeans on clearance at Old Navy for only $7.50 (as mentioned in this post). They're an easy transition into coloured jeans since they're still in the blue family, and work well in any season. I've styled them with a dark coat and faux fur for a winter-feel, and am already anticipating the warmth of summer to colour-block the jeans with a bright top.
