Neon Splash

{ Blazer & Jeggings: H&M // Sweater: Zara // Scarf: Matthew Williamson for H&M // Shoes: BCBGirls // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Sunglasses: Dior // Watch: Gucci // Jewelry: HRH Collection bracelet; random silver ring, BCBG rhinestone ring }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

I absolutely loved neon in the '80s, and I mean LOVED. There are old photos of me showing how I completely embraced the neon trend, from my neon green leggings, neon pink slouch socks, multi-neon-coloured top, and neon orange scrunchie...all in one outfit. These days I'm taking a more restrained approach to the neon trend. I toned down this neon pink sweater from Zara (that I got on sale for $16. Score!) with neutral grey jeans and a black blazer. Adding the bright scarf provided the perfect punch of extra colour I was looking for.

Fashionably Fixated on...

In my spare time, I find that I'm usually spending it obsessing over things I'd like to get my hands on. I thought I'd share some of my current infatuations with you; since this is the first Fashionably Fixated on... post, it will be a little heavier than future ones. Also, some items are more attainable than others, but a girl can always dream, right?

I've seen the Yves Saint Laurent Arty ring on many a fashion blogger and I have to admit that it's tickled my fancy. I'm partial to the lapis blue stone but I'm not picky...

Ah, the elusive vintage Moschino belt. I'm not usually a fan of wearing things with such a conspicuously placed logo but there's something about this belt that would make me break that rule.

Tory Burch leather wrap bracelets. They're simple, chic and will go with anything, just like the label's Reva ballet flats.

I consider myself a pretty girly girl, and this silk Alexander McQueen skull scarf doesn't fall into that category at all. But I love it (maybe it's all the Sons of Anarchy I've been watching).

Chanel 2.55 in beige caviar. Enough said.

Arctic Chill

{ Coat: vintage (from my mom) // Sweater Dress: random from Shanghai // Bag: Chanel // Sunglasses: Roberto Cavalli // Watch: Gucci // Ring: BCBG Max Azria }

We've been experiencing one solid week of snow and honestly, I'm done with it. I prefer the mild Vancouver winters of years past when the cherry blossoms would start to sprout in late February, but I don't think that will be happening this year. At least my little girl is enjoying it. Charlotte made her first snowman last weekend and I think she's pretty darn cute bundled up in her winter gear. Stay warm everyone! Happy Weekend!

Baby, it's cold outside

Vancouver had its first snowfall of the year over the weekend and it's been a chilly couple of days. There's even been an arctic outflow warning issued! The freezing cold weather outside has me yearning for summer but until then, I'll amp up the temperature with thermal leggings, cozy boots and neon accessories to brighten my days.

1. H&M sweater $29.95 CAD
2. John Lewis heat generating thermal leggings £15
3. Canada Goose Livigno parka $459.78 CAD on sale

Winter White

{ Coat: Mackage // Dress & Belt: Aritzia // Tights: Joe Fresh // Shoes: Cole Haan // Bag: Louis Vuitton // Sunglasses: Coach // Jewelry: Spike the Punch necklace, Forever 21 bracelet and JewelMint Blanc Bomb ring }

Happy Friday the 13th everyone! Although this day is typically considered unlucky, Vancouver has been blessed with gorgeous sunshine this past week, making it perfect photo shoot weather! I bought this white Talula Fleetwood lace dress on sale at Aritzia during Boxing Week and have already worn it twice. I love how it can be worn right now in the winter with a heavy coat and tights, yet it will easily transition to be the perfect, light dress in the summer.

What's in My Bag

Here's a peek inside one of my favourite bags, a buttery soft, black quilted leather purse with gold hardware by BCBG Max Azria. It's the perfect size for holding all of my essential items and is tough enough to take on the abuse of everyday wear.
Clockwise from left:
  • iPod and cell phone
  • Make-up bag (contents below)
  • JJ Cole diaper caddy (since Charlotte's not quite potty-trained yet)
  • Coin purse
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs wallet
  • Facial tissue
  • Sony digital camera
  • True Blue Spa hand cream
  • Fabric pouch containing club cards, gift cards, etc.

Inside my make-up bag. Apparently I can't decide on just a couple of lip products so I carry six, along with my Chanel powder foundation.

And just for fun, this is what's inside Charlotte's bag (yes, she has one too). Just one essential that every 2-year-old needs: a cell phone.

For the Love of Fashion

{ Faux Fur Vest & Jeggings: H&M // Sweater: Zara // Boots: Kensie // Bag: Coach // Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Watch: ToyWatch // Jewelry: HRH Collection necklace and bracelet (similar here); JewelMint Saber Tooth ring }

These photos were taken the day before New Year's Eve, when the weather was threatening our shoot. The dark clouds were quickly blanketing the sky but we managed to take these photos right before the rain starting falling. It wasn't the warmest afternoon yet I was determined to wear my new bellowed sleeve Zara sweater and H&M faux fur vest (seen in this post) without a coat. It's not the first time I've forgone more "weather-appropriate" attire for the sake of looking more stylish. But it's worth it when it's for fashion, right?

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may have noticed that I've joined fat mum slim's Photo a Day Challenge for the month of January. I'm four days in and it's been a lot of fun. Not only is it motivation to take more photos, but it's also inspiring creativity and commitment. I'll be compiling all 31 photos at the end of the challenge into a blog post, so stay tuned for the collage in February. And if you're participating in the challenge, leave your Twitter or Instagram name in the comments section so that I can check out your photos!
