During the fall and winter months, I wear a lot of tights to get longevity out of my summer shorts, dresses and skirts. I'm usually a basic black tights kind of gal but these printed tights from Zohara have changed my tune. The unique flower drawing on the tights adds an artistic touch, making them fashionable pieces of art you can wear. They're also 120 den, which means they're thick enough to keep my legs warm when the air is brisk, something I'll definitely be needing with this weekend's forecast of rain and more rain. Happy Friday everyone! Cheers to the weekend!

Casual Leopard

{ Leopard Coat: H&M // Tee: from random boutique // Faux Leather Leggings: Wilfred Free "Daria" via Aritzia // Shoes: Converse // Bag: BCBG Max Azria (old) // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban "Wayfarer" // Ring: HRH Collection "Gilded Girl" }
This leopard coat is the newest addition to my wardrobe that I scored on major sale at H&M for only $20. I kind of wish it had faux leather sleeves instead but I can't argue with the price. Anyone that knows me knows I love a great bargain and sharing my finds. So here I am, sharing this steal with you!

For this look I dressed down the leopard print with sneakers, liquid leggings and a graphic tee. Leopard print is surprisingly versatile for casual or dressy outfits, and I really do believe it acts as a great neutral.

How do you wear leopard?

Return of the Skort

{ Denim Jacket: H&M (worn here & here) // Blouse: J. Crew // Skort: Zara // Shoes: BCBGirls (old) // Wallet: Vince Camuto (similar, won from O My Heart!) // Sunglasses: Prada // Jewelry: Forever 21 earrings; DIY bracelet; BCBG Max Azria ring }
I haven't worn a skort (shorts + skirt) since middle school and honestly thought I'd never wear them again. I also felt the same way about leggings but now I can't imagine life without them. So here I am wearing a skort again, which I am completely in love with. Other things making me happy? The fact that my shirt serendipitously matches the magnolia tree in these photos and that today is my birthday! I have the day off and will be spending it with my husband. Not sure what he has planned but I'll find out soon!

Double Denim

{ Coat: Ecote via Urban Oufitters // Chambray: H&M // Jeans: Old Navy // Booties: Zara // Scarf: American Apparel // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Sunglasses: Dior // iPhone Case: HRH Collection (c/o) // Jewelry: bracelet from Mexico; BCBG ring }

I honestly never thought I'd wear denim on denim (or the Canadian tuxedo, as it's also known), because the look never appealed to me. But fashion can be surprising and over time it can change your outlook on certain styles. I inadvertently threw together my heart-print chambray (last seen here) with my dark denim skinny jeans and voila, a double denim outfit that was cute and effortless for a day of running errands.

Are there any styles you never thought you'd wear and are now loving?

Rhinestone Skulls

{ Blazer, Tee & Wax Coated Jeans: H&M // Scarf: Zara // Shoes: Charles David // Bag: Alexander Wang "Rocco" in rose gold // Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Jewelry: H&M necklace; BCBG ring }
{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

Skulls have been making an impact on fashion for quite some time and I've grown to love them, especially when they're encrusted with rhinestones. The extra bling makes the skulls edgy and girly at the same time, which is how I like to style my outfits on a lot of occasions. Plus, a little extra sparkle is always a welcome addition to my wardrobe.

Summer Layers

{ Maxi Dress: Old Navy (similar here & here) // Denim Shirt: H&M (similar) // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Sunglasses: Dior // Jewelry: HRH Collection Tres Chic necklace; DeLysh Design GLAM bracelet (gifted); BCBG Max Azria ring }

With the sudden drop in temperature, it became too cool for me to wear my maxi dress on its own. Putting a denim shirt over the dress and tying a cute knot in the front was the perfect layering solution.

Isn't this train car cool? I went inside it for the first time and it was a little eerie. Eleanor and I could only stand to photograph one interior shot before getting the urge to go back outside. As romantic as the notion of train travel is to me, the charm got a little lost in this railcar museum. I think I'll stick to air travel! Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekend Wear

{ Chambray & Tank: H&M // Shorts: OASAP (last seen here) // Boots: Aldo (similar) // Bag: Badgley Mischka // Watch: Fossil // Sunglasses: Prada // Jewelry: HRH Collection Original Silver Cuff necklace; BCBG ring // iPhone case: Libbie & Winston }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

The temperature's been rising in Vancouver and I am ecstatic! It's so great to finally wear shorts without tights; this crochet pair from OASAP Fashion is one of my favourites. Now if only my legs weren't so pasty white...I'm hoping to remedy that in Vegas by catching lots of sun by the pool!

Made by Hand

{ Blazer: Zara // T-shirt: Mossimo // Jeans: Levi's // Shoes: Sperry Top-Sider // Bag: Cole Haan // iPhone Case: Libbie & Winston // Watch: Michael Kors (similar) // Jewelry: Spike the Punch necklace; HRH Collection Ombre bracelet; BCBG ring }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

I'm a pretty big fan of handmade things and three of my favourites are showcased in today's post. If you've been reading my blog from the beginning, then you already know that Spike the Punch and HRH Collection are two of my jewelry staples. My latest Etsy discovery is Libbie & Winston, who makes the cutest personalized products, like this custom iPhone case. My phone is definitely more fun when it's accessorized with my monogram and a chevron pattern, don't you think?!

Très Chic

{ Jacket: Mackage Nev (worn here and here) // Denim Shirt: H&M // Bubble Skirt: H&M (old) // Tights: Joe Fresh // Booties: Zara (last seen here) // Bag: BCBG Max Azria // Sunglasses: Chanel // Jewelry: Plum ring; HRH Collection Très Chic necklace }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

If you've been reading my blog for a while you may have noticed that I'm a fan of HRH Collection jewelry, which is handmade and designed by a talented gal, Alex. I first discovered her on YouTube a year ago, and fell in love with her videos, blog and jewelry. I introduced Eleanor to HRH Collection, and we've since amassed a small collection of her jewelry. This Très Chic necklace I'm wearing belongs to Eleanor and I borrowed it to complete this look. Like most of the pieces Alex makes for the collection, it adds the perfect amount of edge to the outfit.

Rosewood

{ Blazer: H&M (last seen here) // Top: Anthropologie (old) // Jeans: Fade to Blue // Shoes: Stuart Weitzman // Bag: Chanel // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Watch: Gucci // Jewelry: HRH Collection Original Silver Cuff necklace and Ultra Luxe bracelet;
BCBG Max Azria ring }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

The Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver is one of the most beautiful hotels I've been in. Eleanor and I enjoyed a Sunday afternoon there brunching at their restaurant, Hawksworth, freshening up in their luxe washroom and shooting my outfit photos. We had to take a photo of our shoes together too. How cute are her turquoise Zara flats? If we wore the same size shoe I would borrow them! Looks like I'm just going to have to get a pair of my own.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend! xo

Side Tracked

{ Jacket: Mackage Nev // Shirt & Booties: Zara // Jeans: Gap // Bag: Badgley Mischka // Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Watch: Longines // Jewelry: HRH Collection necklace, BCBG Max Azria ring, JewelMint Black Swan cuff and Pandora bracelet }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

It's ironic that I titled this post "Side Tracked" back when these photos were first taken in the second week of January, because I actually got side tracked from publishing this post until now. It was meant to be a reference to the train tracks but it's become a literal title. Better late than never?

Fashion-wise, I've been living in these snakeskin-print jeans from the Gap and love the texture they give to an outfit. My JewelMint Black Swan Cuff is also a new favourite. I think all prints from the animal kingdom are slowly making their way into my closet.

Neon Splash

{ Blazer & Jeggings: H&M // Sweater: Zara // Scarf: Matthew Williamson for H&M // Shoes: BCBGirls // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Sunglasses: Dior // Watch: Gucci // Jewelry: HRH Collection bracelet; random silver ring, BCBG rhinestone ring }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

I absolutely loved neon in the '80s, and I mean LOVED. There are old photos of me showing how I completely embraced the neon trend, from my neon green leggings, neon pink slouch socks, multi-neon-coloured top, and neon orange scrunchie...all in one outfit. These days I'm taking a more restrained approach to the neon trend. I toned down this neon pink sweater from Zara (that I got on sale for $16. Score!) with neutral grey jeans and a black blazer. Adding the bright scarf provided the perfect punch of extra colour I was looking for.
