Little Miss Sunshine

{ Blouse: Old Navy (last seen here) // Faux Leather Skater Skirt: ASOS // Shoes: Christian Louboutin // Sunglasses: Prada // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Jewelry: Joe Fresh necklace (similar); Anjolee eternity ring (c/o) }
I'm linking up with Marionberry Style's Trend of the Month challenge today, which is yellow! It's the perfect shade to brighten a gray day, especially when it's colour blocked with purple (my favourite hue). Colours have such a strong effect on your mood and for me, jewelry is just as effective, especially when it's sparkly and bright.

Anjolee recently gave me the opportunity to customize a piece of jewelry from their website, which is full of beautiful pieces from diamond engagement rings, bracelets and pendants to anniversary rings and earrings. Talk about eye candy! I eventually chose this gemstone and diamond eternity ring with alternating amethysts and diamonds (in this case mine has CZ stones since it's a sample). The style is simple and classic, and I think it'd be fun to stack a bunch of them on one finger! How would you wear this ring?

Studded

{ Denim Jacket: Mexx (old) // Striped Top: H&M // Faux Leather Skater Skirt: ASOS // Belt: Old Navy // Boots: ShoeMint "Francoise" // Bag: Alexander Wang "Rocco" in rose gold // Jewelry: Joe Fresh necklace; HRH Collection ring }

If you've been reading my blog for a while, it comes as no surprise that I love a little stud detail. These boots I bought from ShoeMint are a new favourite because of the buckles and of course, the studs. On another note, getting a successful twirling photo is not as easy as I thought it would be! I'm going to need to practice and try this again next time.

Skater Skirt

{ Sweater: Zara // Faux Leather Skater Skirt: ASOS // Tights: Joe Fresh // Booties: Zara // Scarf: Matthew Williamson for H&M // Bag: Chanel // Sunglasses: Gucci // Jewelry: HRH Collection La Lumiere bracelet & Gilded Girl ring }
 { Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

A flared faux leather skirt is something that's been on my wish list for a while and I found the perfect one at ASOS. I love this piece because it fits right into my style: feminine and flirty with a little edge. Since the grey Vancouver skies were a little depressing, I paired the skirt with my neon pink sweater and some sparkly jewels to add a little brightness to the day. It seemed to have worked on the weather gods because we're forecast to have five straight days of sunshine, woohoo! Happy weekend and thanks for reading!

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2013 is treating you well so far. As much as I enjoy the holiday festivities, it's kind of nice to be back in a regular routine and I'm kicking it off with this post, the first of the new year! I'm really enjoying layering faux fur vests this winter and this outfit is no exception. If you haven't worn faux fur vests yet, try one out! It's the perfect time of year to start experimenting with your style. Have fun and thanks for reading!

Winter Layers

{ Trench: c/o eShakti // Faux Fur Vest: H&M Kids // Top: H&M (old) // Faux Leather Shorts: Forever 21 // Tights: Joe Fresh // Shoes & Scarf: Zara // Knit Beret: DIY // Bag: Louis Vuitton // Sunglasses: Karen Walker // Bracelets: Forever 21 & H&M }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

This outfit is actually reminiscent of my very first outfit post. The scarf, top and shorts are the same, but this year I've added more layers that include wearing two pairs of tights, my hand knit beret and a faux fur vest under my custom trench coat from eShakti. I adore that the coat was custom made to my measurements and the festive red colour is perfect for Christmas, which is exactly one week away! Are you all ready?!

PS: the winner of my olive + piper giveaway will be announced on Friday!

Colour Blocked: Mint & Navy

{ Faux Fur Vest: H&M // Top: c/o Sugarlips // Mint Jeans: Zara (worn here & here) // Shoes: Pour La Victoire // Clutch: Coach // Sunglasses: Karen Walker "Number One" // Jewelry: Joe Fresh necklace (old); YSL Arty ring }
 { Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

Remember when I said I'd style my pastel mint jeans into a Fall-appropriate look? Well, here it is! I opted to colour block mint with navy, and used black to keep with a mostly darker colour palette. These photos were shot before I left for Cabo when the weather wasn't quite so bone-chillingly cold. I'd definitely need a jacket now!

Also, today is the last day to enter my olive + piper giveaway for a Mira Spike Necklace so if you haven't entered yet, go do it now!

The vibrant red, orange and yellow hued leaves are one of my favourite aspects of Fall. I also love being able to pull out my cozy sweaters to wear with tights and boots. This slouchy brown pair of boots have been an Autumn staple of mine for at least the last four years. For more inspiration on Fall boots, check out Marionberry Style, who I'm linking up with today. Happy All Hallow's Eve!

Update: What's in My Bag

I thought it'd be fun to do an update on What's in My Bag since a lot has change since my first post showing the contents of my purse. I've downsized my bag to my Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo, and I've been making an effort to carry around less stuff (it also helps that my daughter now carries her things in her own backpack).

Clockwise from left:
  • Prada sunglasses
  • Chanel Vitalumiere Eclat compact powder
  • iPhone in a Rilakkuma case
  • Naris Up lip gloss
  • Joe Fresh Mango lip tint (c/o)
  • Kiehl's Cranberry scented lip balm #1
  • Crabtree & Evelyn La Source age defying hand cream
  • Banana Republic wallet/clutch (old)
Here's a closer look at everything:
And since it's summer and I lay on the beach quite a bit, I'm considering doing a What's in My Beach Bag post if you're all interested. Let me know in the comments!

Leo

{ Blouse: Joe Fresh (with DIY shoulder cut-outs) // Shorts: H&M Kids (similar here and here) // Sandals: Zara // Bag: Chloe // Sunglasses: Karen Walker "Number One" // Necklace: vintage }

I admit that I occasionally shop in the kids department (as seen here) because of the lower price point. If the style isn't too junior and it fits, I'm all over it! I mean, how cute are these leopard-print shorts?! And they were only $12.95. You can't go wrong with a little leo, and for me that goes for fashion and in life because my hubby is a Leo and today is his birthday! Happy happy birthday to the love of my life! xox

Hello, Summer

{ Dress worn as top: OASAP (c/o) // Crochet Shorts: OASAP (gifted from Kerri) // Shoes: ShoeMint Hattie // Bag: Chanel // Sunglasses: Prada // Watch: ToyWatch // Jewelry: Christina M. Boutique necklace (c/o); Joe Fresh bangle, Forever 21 large spike bracelet, ASOS small spike bracelet; Cameo ring from Greece }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

It's summer, it's hot, and I love it! My uniform lately has been a variation of short shorts and a tank. I decided to wear this OASAP sleeveless dress as a top with their beige crochet shorts that Kerri kindly gave to me (thanks girl!). I also have these shorts in black (seen here and here) and they're really a great, versatile piece. So glad to have them in both colours! Happy Hump Day!

DIY: Cut-Out Shoulders Blouse

INSPIRATION: Equipment Nixie Cold Shoulder Silk Blouse | WHAT I'M USING: Joe Fresh Silk Blouse

I bought this black silk Joe Fresh blouse when it was on clearance in the Winter for $19.99 but haven't worn it yet. I felt like it was missing something so I took my inspiration from this Equipment blouse, which I adore, and decided to replicate the look. It's a pretty simple DIY and doesn't require a sewing machine (though you can certainly use one if you choose to). Learn how to make your own cut-out shoulders blouse in just 4 easy steps!

Step 1: Using a fabric pencil, draw out the shape of your shoulder cut-out on one side of the blouse. Depending on much skin you want to show, it can be round, oval, short or long. I chose to draw a long oval to create a deeper cut-out.

Step 2: Cut out the shape you just drew on the shoulder area. It's a little scary but you can do it! Remember to use really sharp scissors that are only meant for cutting fabric.

Step 3: After you've finished cutting the first shoulder out, fold the blouse evenly in half with the front side facing each other. I pinned the shoulders of the blouse together and cut the second side by following the outline of the first shoulder cut-out. You can also trace the oval shape again with your fabric pencil if you prefer to cut along a line.

Step 4: Try on the shirt to make sure you're happy with the shape and size of your cut-outs. Adjust as needed. Fold down the raw cut edge and machine sew or hand-stitch the hem. I chose to hand-sew a slip stitch so that the stitches would be more invisible.

Step 5: Wear with pride!
