Layered Up

Although I'm a die-hard summer girl, I do enjoy dressing for fall because of the opportunities to layer. I last wore this dress in the heat of summer (here) and was able to make it appropriate for autumn temperatures just by adding a turtleneck and faux fur vest. Classic accessories like diamond stud earrings and oxblood nail polish brings more texture to the look, while holding a cup of hot tea keeps the chill away. Which brings me to this Alice+Olivia for Starbucks mug. Can we talk about how adorable it is? Stripes, gold and a tutu - très chic.

Summer Basics

Summertime is all about easy dressing and it doesn't get any easier than with essentials like denim shorts and a white tank. Throw in some neutrals and you're good to go.

I recently read this book called Pink Me Up to my daughter and thought it'd be the perfect title for this post. My 3-year-old loves pink and she'd gasp with delight at the pink cherry blossoms and the petals that have carpeted the street. Of course, she'd be wearing pink too. Happy Friday everyone!

Cut it Out

Cut out details in clothing makes for an interesting detail that I adore. This sweater is made all the cuter with the cut out back and silk ribbon ties. And if you follow me on Instagram, you'll recognize these camouflage jeans I posted a few weeks back that I was debating whether or not to keep. As you can see, I decided to keep them. Blocking Brights

Over the four-day Easter long weekend, we were blessed with nothing but gorgeous blue skies and sunshine. This kind of weather always makes me want to dress in vibrant colours and this outfit is proof of that. Don't be afraid to colour block your brights from head to toe! Give it a try and I'll bet you'll be smiling as brightly as Little Miss Sunshine.

Flapper

Little white dresses are my weakness, and this one I'm wearing from Sugarlips is a welcome wardrobe addition with its fringe hemline that reminds me of a 20s flapper girl. Since it's not quite warm enough to wear on its own (I'm dreaming of summer days when I can wear the dress with these sandals), I layered on a black turtleneck and tights for a classic black and white colour combination.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2013 is treating you well so far. As much as I enjoy the holiday festivities, it's kind of nice to be back in a regular routine and I'm kicking it off with this post, the first of the new year! I'm really enjoying layering faux fur vests this winter and this outfit is no exception. If you haven't worn faux fur vests yet, try one out!
