Colour blocking was big in 2011 and the trend is still going strong this year. I never thought I'd be one to wear two bright colours together but it just seems to work when it's balanced with black and a neutral leopard belt. As the weather improves, I know I'll be turning to the bright hues in my wardrobe to colour block not only neons, but pastels too. Is this a trend you'll be trying this Spring? Let me know in the comments! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

In Bloom

Maybe it's because Spring is finally here, or that I have always loved flowers, but I am romanticizing about all things floral at the moment. Denim, blazers, blouses and even boots; if there are flowers on it, I want to wrap myself up in them. Below are my freshly picked floral pieces.

1. Citizens of Humanity Mandy-Natural Rose denim $225 CAD (Aritzia)
2. Anthropologie English Breakfast silk romper $148 USD
3. Talula Kent blazer in floral bouquet $95 CAD (Aritzia)
4. Lulu's Chelsea Crew Bolivia Flower Suede low heel ankle booties $85 USD
5. Kimchi Blue printed yoke short $39 USD (Urban Outfitters)
6. Zara printed silk satin tunic $59.90 CAD

Mixing Metals

{ Jacket: Ecote (Urban Outfitters) // Top & Shorts: Forever 21 // Tights: Joe Fresh // Booties: Aldo Qualheim // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Sunglasses: Tory Burch // Watch: ToyWatch // Jewelry: HRH Collection Sheik necklace; JewelMint Blanc Bomb ring, Humanity Wish bracelet & Oyster earrings }

{ Photographed by Eleanor Chow }

Mixing metals like gold, silver and rose gold together can make a pretty harmonious combination. I'm a fan of wearing all three metals together because I love each colour equally and sometimes just can't pick a favourite. Why wear one when you can wear them all?

When I Instagram-ed and tweeted a photo of me trying on this horse-print blouse at Zara a couple weeks ago, I got a lot of positive responses. And what's not to love about it? The horse heads are classic (in a fashionably chic way rather than in a scary The Godfather way) while the gold stud details on the shoulders and cuffs are a pleasant, edgy addition. Have a happy Friday and thank you so much for reading! xo

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

{ Blazer: H&M (last seen here) // Top: Zara // Silk Shorts & Belt: Wilfred (Aritzia) // Booties: Zara (last seen here) // Bag: Coach (vintage) // Sunglasses: Tory Burch //
Ring: YSL Arty Oval // Watch: Michael Kors }

The clothes I'm wearing in this outfit are all from last season, while the Coach bag was an old piece I acquired from my bestie. The ring is something that has been on my wish list for a while and I borrowed it from Eleanor, who is just as passionate about fashion as I am. We grew up wearing a lot of the same clothes (we still do to this day) and I actually borrow a lot of her accessories for our shoots. When she tagged me on Instagram about her new YSL Arty Oval ring, I knew I had to borrow it for an outfit post. The lapis blue stone is stunningly vibrant and has beautiful flecks of gold scattered throughout. Definitely in love.

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope your day has been off to a good start so far! If you're looking for a pick-me-up, today happens to be Macaron Day in France! Why not celebrate their tradition and pick up one of these delightful treats? If you're lucky enough to live by a Ladurée or Bottega Louie, I envy you ;) Here are a few photos of macarons that make me happy. Bon Appétit!

In anticipation of St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, I donned my favourite shade of green: mint. This pastel green shade is enjoying its fashion heyday as a refreshing mint hue, and for the most part, is no longer the dreaded sea foam green colour of bridesmaids dresses in the '80s. I'm personally enjoying its revival and intend to wear mint green all through Spring and Summer. If you haven't tried wearing this shade yet, this weekend is the perfect time to start! Go small with nail polish (my fave is Revlon "Jaded") or bold with an entire ensemble. Have a happy weekend and St. Patty's Day!

French Toast Muffins

Charlotte and I recently attended a breakfast play date and I brought these French Toast muffins to share with the group of moms and their tots. They're quite genius, really. French Toast in portable muffin form? Count me in. Plus, they're extremely easy to make and Charlotte was able to help me. The recipe is from Dempster's but you can use any bread you like (I used D'Italiano).

My decision to start a style blog in the winter here in Vancouver has made shooting and dressing for outfit photos a bit of a challenge. I've forsaken the warmth of a coat to showcase my outfit and braved chilling arctic air in the snow. Eleanor's said to me many times on our shoots to "Try not to look so cold!" At this time of the year, it's usually warmest when it's raining, which happens a lot here in "Raincouver." Luckily, I've scouted a location to shoot that will keep us dry, and there's nothing like a pair of Hunter rain boots to make you feel invincible in the rain.

Monday Muses: Nicole Kidman & Sunday Rose Urban

Losing an hour of sleep over the weekend because of Daylight Savings was not so fun. However, finding pieces inspired by Nicole Kidman and her daughter Sunday Rose's sophisticated ensembles was enough to keep me from being too groggy. Afterall, online shopping is just as good of a pick-me-up as coffee ;)

For Mama:
1) Plenty by Tracy Reese dress $234 USD
2) Coccinelle tote $395 USD
3) ASOS cat eye diamante sunglasses $21.93 CAD
4) Spring Shives heels $29.98 CAD on sale

For Mini-Me:
1) Zara dress with tucks on sleeves $45.90 CAD
3) The Children's Place Every Kay ballet flats $15 CAD on sale
2) Gymboree tights $1.99 USD on sale

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you would have seen a photo of me wearing these new floral trousers from H&M last week. They really are the best $14.95 I've spent. This print and all of its incarnations (it's availabe in a blazer, top and blouse) are slowly cropping up in the fashion blogosphere and it's easy to see why. They're such an easy and affordable way to incorporate Spring's floral trend. I decided to add my own twist and style the flower pattern with leopard print. Do you think the print mixing worked? What trends are you excited to try this Spring?
